Digitization of the Lymphatic Filariasis Mass Drug Administration

The Kano State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with eGovernments Foundation and with support from Clinton Health Access Initiative, CHAI, recently piloted the DIGIT-HCM tool to digitize the Lymphatic Filariasis Mass Drug Administration (MDA) in the state. This groundbreaking digitization, the first of its kind for the NTD program in Nigeria, has significantly enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of MDA—an essential step towards the elimination of the disease in Kano.
The pilot achieved an impressive 86% coverage, with notable improvements in drug accountability, strengthened M&E processes, CDD performance, and data-driven decision-making. These accomplishments mark a significant milestone in our efforts.
Looking ahead, the state, in partnership with CHAI and eGovernments Foundation, plans to extend this digitization to other disease programs, aiming for integrated health campaign digitization across Kano.
Appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Health for participating in this pilot, and the entire staff of the State Ministry of Health and Primary Healthcare Board
